VICTORY HOUSE

Victory House – Place of Restoration – our home for abused women and their children, is a special place.

It’s a place of healing and time out: a safe place to stay to  begin the process of deep healing and restoration.
The house is for those who have been raped, been victims of human trafficking or any other kind of abusive situation. There is a seven week intensive individual therapy programme as well as group work sessions and play therapy for the children.
Women are equipped and empowered in all areas of life: they receive practical help to obtain protection orders, attend hospital, they learn life skills and parenting skills, coached with CV writing and interview skills and any other help they need.
Women who have been in abusive relationships often need deeper psychological insight and healing so that they learn what it is that has led them to put up with abuse to allow them to make better choices in their future.
It is a great joy when a woman finds her voice, realizes her value and discovers she does not have to tolerate abuse anymore: that there is a better future for her and her children.

Testimonies
A woman who said she couldn’t cook was encouraged to do so: she made wonderful meals. She said she loved to cook but her husband had told her she was useless.
One lady said: I never expected you to be so kind.
Staff and residents were in tears when a child prayed and gave thanks “for a safe place to stay and nice food to eat.”
Women have learnt to knit and crochet and there is now a proliferation of beanies, snoods and blankets ready to be distributed.
A woman with chain choke marks on her neck and a blue eye who was fetched from a police station on a Friday night discovered there was a reason for her rescue: to find out her value.
